Securing the AI Factory: Palo Alto Networks and NVIDIA Redefine Enterprise AI Security
Manila, Philippines — Artificial intelligence is no longer just an innovation tool; it has become the primary engine of market leadership. As enterprises race to deploy AI at scale, many are moving away from general-purpose computing toward AI factories—specialized infrastructures designed to support the full AI lifecycle. With this shift comes a critical challenge: delivering powerful security without slowing down performance.
To meet this need, Palo Alto Networks has announced that Prisma® AIRS™, accelerated by the NVIDIA BlueField® data processing unit (DPU), is now part of the NVIDIA Enterprise AI Factory validated design. This collaboration introduces a new security architecture purpose-built for the AI era.
Security Embedded Directly Into the AI Infrastructure
The integrated solution embeds zero trust security directly into the AI factory itself, delivering comprehensive protection without compromising speed or efficiency.
By deploying Prisma® AIRS™ Network Intercept directly on the NVIDIA BlueField DPU—and extending protection to the cloud—enterprises can establish a zero trust governance fabric across their AI environments. This approach allows organizations to innovate faster while maintaining full visibility and control.
A key architectural advantage is the offloading of security processing to an isolated domain. Using NVIDIA DOCA hardware acceleration, security policies are enforced at line speed, ensuring optimal AI performance and infrastructure efficiency.
Intelligent Threat Detection and Automated Response
The solution also captures real-time workload insights through DOCA Argus, which are sent to Cortex XSIAM® for advanced analysis. From there, AI-driven responses are orchestrated using Cortex XSOAR®, enabling rapid, automated threat mitigation across the AI factory.
Industry Leaders on the Future of AI Security
Rich Campagna, SVP of Product Management at Palo Alto Networks, emphasized the strategic importance of securing AI environments:
“The AI Factory is the new engine for value creation, and securing it is a board-level imperative. The validation of Palo Alto Networks Prisma AIRS accelerated with NVIDIA BlueField within the NVIDIA Enterprise AI Factory enables a new security architecture for the AI era. We are embedding trust directly into the infrastructure, giving leaders the confidence to safeguard their proprietary intelligence and deploy AI bravely.”
Kevin Deierling, Senior Vice President of Networking at NVIDIA, echoed this vision:
“AI is transforming every industry, and security must evolve to protect AI factories. To be scalable, security must be distributed and embedded within the AI infrastructure. This is achieved with NVIDIA BlueField running Palo Alto Networks Prisma AIRS to deliver robust, runtime security for the AI factory—while maintaining optimal AI performance and efficiency.”
Defense-in-Depth for Modern AI Factories
In addition to distributed security on BlueField, enterprises can maintain a centralized Hyperscale Security Firewall (HSF) cluster at AI factory ingress and egress points. This defense-in-depth strategy enables:
- Advanced application-layer threat detection
- Prevention of lateral movement within AI environments
- Elastic scaling for high availability and session resiliency
Individual workloads can also selectively route traffic through hyperscale clusters for deeper inspection, ensuring consistent protection across all AI operations.
Lower TCO, Higher Performance, Future-Ready Design
This architecture delivers significant improvements in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). By isolating security functions on the BlueField DPU, enterprises can dedicate 100% of host compute resources to AI workloads. The result is higher token throughput, better capital efficiency, and no resource contention.
As a validated design, this solution provides a seamless path for organizations transitioning from general-purpose clusters to secure AI factories—without costly infrastructure overhauls.
Just as importantly, the design is future-proof. Deployments built on NVIDIA BlueField-3 today are inherently ready for BlueField-4, which will deliver up to 6× more compute power and double the bandwidth, enabling AI factories to scale to gigascale demands with confidence.
A Blueprint for Secure AI Innovation
With Prisma® AIRS™ included in the NVIDIA Enterprise AI Factory validated design, enterprises gain a comprehensive, zero trust security foundation. Sensitive and proprietary data is protected across the entire AI stack, and models are safeguarded against adversarial threats such as prompt injection attacks.
By combining high-performance infrastructure with the world’s most comprehensive AI security platform, organizations can accelerate innovation—securely and confidently.
