Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, joined Globe Telecom in formally opening its new 5G-ready data center located in Tiaong, Quezon Province. The TIA 942, Tier-II modular data center supports Globe Telecom’s mission to build a consistent communications network in preparation for growing customer demands for faster connectivity and data applications.
Globe’s newest data center facility in Tiaong improves digital connectivity by widening availability and strengthening reliability of its mobile and fixed network services, resulting in better customer experience. Globe was keen to optimize construction time, while also prioritizing energy efficient operation. Ultimately, this challenge was resolved by Vertiv’s integrated modular solutions, which include Vertiv’s full suite of power, thermal and IT management solutions, and the support of its in-house expertise in prefabricated data center infrastructure.
The Tiaong data center employs a unique construction model, combining a brick-and-mortar approach with Vertiv’s integrated modular solutions. The project build followed a parallel timeline where the on-site construction was run simultaneously with the fabrication of the modules on an offsite location, greatly reducing build timelines. This method allowed for a compact and fully utilized space that addresses current requirements, while allowing for possible expansion efforts should future demand increase.
Present at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Globe Telecom was James Lim, vice president for the Network Technical Group, Jaime Pagcaliwagan, director for Core Facility Engineering, Patrick John Magsajo, assistant director for Core Project Delivery and Rey Salvador, director for Core Operations. Vertiv was represented by Jason Lim, country manager, Philippines, Anna Dionne Chua, sales manager for telecom, and Albert Corpuz, project manager.
“As we continue to expand our network and realize increased traffic, we need additional data centers in strategic areas to meet this demand. We found the right partner in Vertiv, whose expertise and energy efficiency ensured our data centers are among the best in its class,” said James Lim, Globe Telecom’s vice president for Core Planning, Engineering & Implementation.
“We are excited to witness this unique project unveiled in the Philippines, where a traditional build approach remains as the prevalent methodology. Vertiv’s integrated modular solutions take into consideration specific customer requirements, and our collaborative approach with Globe allowed for a more energy-efficient, environmentally-sound design compared to traditional build, while supporting consistent network connectivity to Filipinos across the country,” said Jason Lim.
