DJI Neo review – a Palm Sized drone that can do just Anything!

Its nice to see a nice idea to just let everyone fly like they say. The DJI Neo is a very affordable one which comes at a price point of 10,000 Pesos for the basic package and 18,000 Pesos for the Flymore Package. This enables beginners to start their first drone journey without hurting the pocket.

Now packed with a lot of features, the DJI Neo has a Follow Me function with lets you use the drone without even needing to hold the remote! Nice idea isnt it? This simply means that this can be called a Selfie Drone, using its AI to follow you with face detection. For me this is more than just a conventional drone, its another revolutionary experience from DJI.

DJI used a rigid frame to construct the Neo, as you can see in the photo it is well protected when it accidentally bumped into a wall or an obstruction. Tho I tried to remove one of the propellers, it doesnt seem its very easy to replace because of the frame protection it has to give you extra guards.

You will find 2 buttons on the drone, a power button at the rear near the charging port and a take off button at the front near the camera. There are light indicator to tell you what mode you selected.

The horizontally-framed camera is mounted on a 1-axis gimbal – a technology sufficient for DJI’s Avata drones, is well protected on the sides. This one can let you record up to 40k 30fps.

I was able to pair the controller quickly, tho I just need to make a few couple of firmware updates for both the Neo and the RC-N3 controller. But after the update, everything seems okay for takeoff.

Since I have the Flymore combo, I had a dock that can charge all 3 batteries at the same time. By the way, for 1 stick of battery it can give you 18 minutes of airtime (this includes returning home and landing).

Overall the image captured is good but not superior like the one I got from the Avata. The camera is 4k 30fps, the video resolution is good but not very cinematic. Its a good start for people who wants to journey and upgrade their content creation, the DJI Neo is definitely a good choice especially for starters. Consider this drone to be more of a selfie drone more than a conventional one. But definitely it can be used as a conventional drone.

I personally would encourage you to get the Flymore Combo because you will get a way better experience than just the basic package.
