Ford Philippines successfully celebrated Global Caring Month last September with six (6) community activities participated by over 150 Ford and dealer employees that generated over 1,260 volunteer hours.
Ford, in partnership with Gawad Kalinga (GK) Foundation, conducted farm produce packing and donation activities participated by Ford Philippines employees and Ford Iloilo dealer employees in September 8 and September 15, respectively. Over 800 families in GK villages in Metro Manila and Lambunao in Iloilo received baskets of fresh vegetables that boost their nutrition and overall well-being.
Over fifty (50) employees from Ford Philippines and various Ford dealers participated in a tree planting activity in September 15 in partnership with Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), which generated a total of 1,875 seedlings of native and fruit-bearing trees in Antipolo City. The initiative also provided additional source of income for farmers and members of the Malayang Samahan ng mga Katutubo ng Antipolo City (MASAKA) Inc. and Dulhogan Peoples Association as beneficiary and partner in monitoring and maintenance of the reforestation sites.
Complementing this activity was another tree-planting initiative in Cebu also in partnership with PBSP participated by over 30 Ford Philippines, Ford Cebu and Ford Talisay dealer employees in September 16, where over 5,000 seedlings of native and fruit-bearing trees were planted in Buhisan Watershed Forest Reserve in Cebu.
Both tree-planting activities were part of Fordâs commitment to plant 20,000 trees in 2023 which will cover 12 hectares of reforestation sites in Marikina Watershed in Rizal and Buhisan Watershed in Cebu. Ford Philippines is a staunch partner of PBSP in its environment program. In recent years, Ford has partnered with Motolite and PBSP for the Balik-Baterya Program, where proceeds of the battery recycling project will be donated to support PBSPâs watershed rehabilitation program.
To culminate Fordâs celebration of Global Caring Month, close to 30 Ford Philippines and Ford Cainta dealer employees participated in back-to-back visits to the Anawim Lay Missions Foundation and Mother of Mercy Home of Elderly & Abandoned where the volunteers also donated basic needs and supplies to the elderly beneficiaries. This initiative was in partnership with the AMCHAM Foundation.
âWe thank all our Ford employee and dealer employee volunteers as well as NGO partners for dedicating their time and talent that led to the successful implementation of our community programs for this yearâs Ford Global Caring Month in the Philippines,â shares Josie Gonzalez, director, Government and Corporate Affairs, Ford Philippines. âThis is one of our biggest Global Caring Month celebrations to date and we are committed to continue our efforts to uplift and transform the lives of our beneficiaries and communities we serve with our programs centered around environment protection, health and nutrition, sustainable community development and education.â
