A Celebration of Creative Freedom
For the fourth consecutive year, Marshall has partnered with a Chinese artist to commemorate Lunar New Year. This year’s collaborator, FCCK—a designer, illustrator, and artist based in Chengdu—brings his boundary-pushing style to the forefront.
Known for blending illustration, graphic patterns, and typography, FCCK creates vibrant visual worlds that defy convention. His artistic philosophy aligns naturally with Marshall’s long-standing rock ‘n’ roll spirit—bold, independent, and unapologetically original. The horse, symbolizing freedom and untamed energy, perfectly captures this shared outlook.
Drawing inspiration from the Chinese phrase “脱缰野马” (which translates to “a wild horse that has thrown off its reins”), the design embodies unbridled energy and fearless self-expression.
“‘Rational chaos’ is how I interpret the word unbridled,” FCCK shares. “I stepped out of my comfort zone by using a mix of textures such as clay, wood carving, embroidery, paper cutting alongside graffiti, abstraction, and pop art to create different iterations of horses. The final visual expression best expresses the meaning of unbridled: like a horse running across the grasslands, spontaneous and free.”
Art Meets Innovation
The dynamic Year of the Horse artwork appears on two special-edition releases: the Studio 900 Combo amplifier and the Emberton III portable speaker.
For the first time, Marshall introduces a hand-applied water transfer print—also known as a hydra print—on the Emberton III’s matte silicone sleeve. This process allows the design to float on water before being wrapped around the speaker, creating subtle shifts and stretches in the pattern.
According to Susanne Bryngelsson, Senior Industrial Designer at Marshall Group, this technique ensures that no two speakers are exactly alike, making each Emberton III a truly unique collectible piece.
Meanwhile, fans of the Studio 900 can enjoy the same powerful crunch, clarity, and distinctive 90s Marshall tone—now dressed in the striking Year of the Horse artwork.
Exclusive Philippine Release
In the Philippines, the special-edition Emberton III is brought in by Digits Trading Corp., the exclusive distributor of Marshall in the country.
The speaker will be available exclusively at Satchmi starting January 31, 2025. With only 70 units available, this limited release is expected to sell out quickly among collectors and music lovers alike.
