Epic memories happen at night when we go out to explore and enjoy life – especially during the summer! Whether it’s a long walk at the beach, a spontaneous road trip, an unforgettable experience at a music festival, or scoring cool items at a night market, we want to remember and share these epic moments. But it’s difficult to relive them when your phone just can’t capture what your eyes see.
While smartphone photography has advanced significantly in the last decade due to innovations in camera hardware, computational imaging, and Artificial Intelligence (AI), taking photos in low light has always been difficult — that is, until Samsung officially launched its breakthrough Nightography feature for its Galaxy S Series.
Galaxy users can say goodbye to washed-out, blurry night images, as they now have the best way to take crisp photos and videos from dusk to dawn. Here are some examples of how the new Galaxy S23 Series uses its Nightography feature to capture epic moments this summer!
Removes noise with MFP Technology
It is difficult to capture fun and exciting moments that occur at night. The main challenge with night photography is having shots that are full of noise, making them appear grainy and unrefined.
Samsung experts developed technology for taking vivid photos in low-light situations. The S23 camera can now capture a series of images with different brightness levels. It then applies multi-frame processing (MFP) technology which analyzes the images, removes the frames with noise or blur. Afterwards, it merges the remaining frames into a single clear shot with HDR.
Improves color, tone and details through AI-powered ISP Algorithm
So, what’s the point of a crisp photo if it’s dull? You can always rely on editing apps and filters, but this still requires some effort and a keen eye for detail if you want to make your photos look as realistic as possible. But with the Galaxy S23 Series Nightography feature, you can put these worries to sleep.
The MFP also allows for the creation of a high-definition photo. The AI powered ISP algorithm in the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) enhances the photo’s color, tone and details, making it appear life-like by capturing full colors in low light.
Faster Processing by leveraging Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
Love taking photos next to aesthetic signage? The image quality of Nightography on the Galaxy S23 Series has greatly improved with increased brightness, while still controlling noise, clarity, and saturation around night lightings such as neon sign boards.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Series Nightography is a groundbreaking feature of the new smartphone series due to its powerful processor – the exclusive Snapdragon® 8 Gen 2. It is equipped with multi-frame pipeline optimizations and AI model acceleration for faster processing using less memory than the Galaxy S22.
Epic Nights Ahead
With the Galaxy’s most advanced camera features yet, Nightography with Samsung Galaxy S23 series even provides an epic night selfie experience, with its 12MP ultra wide camera which has AI-Object aware engine. With its Dual Pixel, AI stereo depth map, it also produces the best night portraits for us and our friends.
The Galaxy S23 Series also lets us see night photos clearly and with more rich details with its Ultra High Resolution, (50MP for S23 and S23+, 200MP for S23 Ultra), giving you a Super HDR display and details enhancer.
When it comes to night videos, these are also more crisp, and stable as the Galaxy S23 series uses Video Multi-frame processing based on its powerful processor while providing improved image stabilization with adaptive VDIS, Wide OIS for S23 and S23+, and even two times wider for S23 Ultra.
Epic Night photos and videos are not the only thing the Samsung Galaxy Series delivers – this is also Samsung’s most environmentally friendly phone to date, as it is made of recycled aluminum, glass, and PET, as well as repurposed ocean-bound plastic.
