Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today launched the new models in its monitor lineup at CES® 2023, in a bid to further strengthen its position as a leader in the visual display market.
The Odyssey, ViewFinity, and Smart Monitor lineups, all offer image quality and a host of revolutionary features for people looking to work, play and live through their monitor display.
Samsung is revolutionizing the ultra-wide display category by launching the Odyssey Neo G9, the world’s first single monitor with dual ultra-high definition resolution.
“We are introducing the future of gaming monitors with our Odyssey Neo G9, making each game more lifelike with innovative features and picture quality on a new scale,” said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “CES is the perfect place to showcase our innovations that can take not only gamers, but also graphic designers or TV fans to the next level while providing personalized experiences across a range of integrated smart apps.”
Gaming without distractions
The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 Gaming Monitor (Model Name: G95NC) enables gamers to experience unprecedented levels of detail and an expansive field of view. This gaming monitor boasts 7,680×2,160 resolution and a 32:9 aspect ratio, a combination that has never been seen before on a single screen.
This 57” curved screen, featuring 1000R curvature, utilizes quantum mini LED technology and has a VESA Display HDR 1000 certification, resulting in superior imaging in all gaming settings – from dark shades to illuminated scenes. The Matte Display reduces glare, making it the perfect choice for intense gaming sessions without any distractions.
The new DisplayPort 2.1 is the world’s first of its kind, allowing for data to be transferred at nearly double the speed of the previous DisplayPort 1.4 technology. Furthermore, it also enables lossless Display Stream Compression (DSC), allowing for the transmission of data without any distortion.
The Odyssey Neo G9 also supports a refresh rate of 240Hz, so that gamers will not miss a thing during fast-paced gameplay.
Brighter whites, deeper blacks, near infinite color contrast
The new Odyssey OLED G9 (Model Number: G95SC) is the latest addition to the Odyssey family. It has a dual quad-HD 49” 1800R curved display boasting a 32:9 ratio. Its quantum dot technology OLED lighting is controlled pixel-by-pixel, providing an almost-unlimited color contrast ratio.
The OLED screen lights up each pixel independently. It does not need a backlight, providing an impressive 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio while producing real RGB and completely black colors without any color filters.
For smooth gameplay, the Odyssey OLED G9 also features a 0.1ms response time and 240Hz refresh rate to eliminate lagging and skipping.
The Odyssey OLED G9 offers access to apps from partners such as Prime Video, Netflix, and YouTube via Smart Hub, so users can enjoy various streaming content without having to connect to a PC.
It is also equipped with Samsung Gaming Hub, an all-in-one game streaming platform that allows gamers to discover and play games in the cloud from partners such as Xbox and NVIDIA GeForce Now, without needing a console or to download games.
ViewFinity S9: smart color calibration for creative professionals
Samsung’s ViewFinity S9 (Model Number: S90PC) is the company’s latest offering to the monitor market. This 5K 27” screen is specifically designed for creative professionals like graphic designers and photographers, with its 5,120 x 2,880 resolution combined with a wide color gamut of 99% DCI-P3. With an average Delta E ≦ 2 color accuracy, this monitor assures you of seeing true-to-form details and clear, precise color representation, even in complicated or nuanced visual environments.
The monitor’s built-in Color Calibration Engine ensures precise screen color and brightness, allowing users to adjust white balance, Gamma, and RGB color balance for perfect accuracy with their smartphones through the Samsung Smart Calibration application. Additionally, the Matte Display feature reduces light reflection and glare, making it easier for users to concentrate while working.
The ViewFinity S9 Series has a 4K SlimFit camera, USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 connections, and the Samsung Smart Hub with built-in apps such as Google Meet for easy video conferencing. It allows users to quickly transfer large files, like high-resolution video, or other large data sets, from storage devices to their PC.
Productivity, entertainment, personal life in sync
The Smart Monitor M8 (Model Number: M80C) offers a sleek and slim design, and is now available in two sizes – 27″ and 32″ – both with 4K resolution. To fit in any space, the M8 comes in four colors: Daylight Blue, Spring Green, Sunset Pink, and Warm White.
This height-adjustable stand with tilt support provides users with the optimal viewing angle. It can pivot 90 degrees, allowing for convenient scrolling through lengthy documents. Additionally, it meets VESA mount compatibility standards, providing a tidy and efficient space-saving solution.
The Smart Monitor M8 can connect, control, and manage hundreds of compatible connected devices through the built-in SmartThings Hub. These devices include lights, cameras, doorbells, locks, thermostats, and more. Samsung plans to expand device choices and usability by supporting Matter functionality and Home Connectivity Alliance standards from this year onwards
Mouse control functionality has been added to many of the Smart Monitor’s over-the-top apps, including SmartThings and the Smart Hub, for a new level of convenient control without a remote.
Users can use the Smart Monitor M8 to get instant access to Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube and other over-the-top services through Smart Hub. They can also easily access Samsung Gaming Hub, the all-in-one game streaming platform.
The monitor can detect a registered smartphone through low-power Bluetooth when it is in standby mode. Once it does, the My Contents feature will display the user’s personalized photos, schedule, and other helpful information on the screen. Once the phone moves out of range, the monitor will return to standby mode.
The integrated SlimFit camera in the Smart Monitor M8 has been upgraded with 2K resolution and works with video conferencing apps such as Google Meet.
In addition, the Smart Monitor M8 is also protected by Samsung Knox Vault, which encrypts personal data and keeps stored files and information isolated from the device’s main operating system to safeguard it from attacks.
